At a Future Wellow meeting at the start of June, it was overwhelmingly agreed that it was time for a more formal structure for this community group. This was partly prompted by a need for us to open a bank account to manage funds. It also allows us the opportunity to apply for community grants, which would allow us to do more to support the village with concerns like home energy, or biodiversity initiatives.
A group of nine attendees agreed to step forward to become the new committee, and at a committee meeting on Monday 15th the new constitution was ratified, and officers appointed. The new committee are Hugh Prentice standing as chair, Rob Greig and Marchelle Farrell holding joint roles for Secretary and Membership, and Alistair Colston acting as Treasurer. The rest of the committee currently includes Chris Wordsworth, Al Hunt, Joe Sell, Karen Grattage and Sophie Holmes. Our constitution can be read here.
We hope to bring lots of good energy to the village with positive actions we can all take to make a difference, and bring our community closer together while doing so. Fun and informative events are already in the pipeline. See you at an event soon!
