Bath & North East Somerset Climate and Nature Survey

BANES Council are developing a new Climate and Nature Strategy and want to hear from residents about their views on these topics. They have launched a Climate and Nature Survey which is currently live until 16th June. You can find the survey here.

Festival of Nature

The UK’s largest free celebration of the natural world returns to Bath and Bristol June 7-15th. There are still lots of events to take part in and explore. Catch the last weekend of events on their website here.

Wild Waters Festival

The Wild Waters Festival, a local festival of nature and community is on from May 31st to June 15th. There are still lots of fascinating events, film screenings, and exhibitions to catch before the end of the weekend. Find out more here.

River Avon Art Competition

Any young creatives at home? Calling all young creatives aged 7 to 16 to take part in the River Avon Art Competition between May 31st and June 15th, hosted by Transition Bath in collaboration with the Wild Waters Festival, to create a poster celebrating rivers and letting others know why they’re so important. Big Butterfly Count

Another activity that will be great to encourage younger ones to take part in is this year’s Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count. Running between July 18th and August 10th, you can find out more about how to take part in this simple but fun and important project here.

Wellow Talk on Reducing Energy Costs and Carbon Usage

We held a really interesting and informative talk on practical ways in which we can all reduce our energy costs and carbon usage (win-win) in the village last month. INSPIRING LOCAL PROJECTS

Homewood Farm Solar Project

Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) is carrying out a feasibility study to develop a solar farm in conjunction with Fresford, Hinton Charterhouse and Limpley Stoke parish councils. Find out more about this very interesting local initiative, that could perhaps be replicated in our area, here.

Bring back Swifts

Nature Chain are successfully helping to increase the numbers of nesting swifts (beautiful, iconic summer birds which are highly endangered in the UK) in the areas of Freshford and South Stoke by the simple measure of putting swift boxes on houses.
