Woodland Trust – Free trees for schools and communities

The Woodland Trust gives away free tree packs to educational establishments and not-for-profit community groups based in England, Scotland and Wales. The village has already made us of this resource by planting a new hedge at the top of the Wellow Recreation Field – a joint endeavour between the Parish Council, the Wellow Recreation committee, and Future Wellow. It was a glorious community day of planting, and despite tricky weather, the young hedge is doing well. The village school has also benefitted from this resource, planting a hedge in the school paddock. It’s an excellent community resource to increase the local canopy, and all the benefits that increased hedging and trees bring to us all.

Team Wilder Ecological Advisory Service

Sadly this free professional advice service from the Avon Wildlife Trust to make your garden, community space or land/small holding more wildlife friendly is no longer active. However, their website remains a great resource of information and tips on things that can be done to improve biodiversity in your garden or on your land.

Know of any other helpful local resources? Email hello@future.wellow.org so we can let others know about it too.
